The Big Sky School District partnered with Habitat for Humanity to construct two triplex buildings on School District property southwest of the existing high school. The purpose of the project is to construct tastefully designed units that would be available to district employees to lease or rent at a lower cost than other traditional (and much more expensive) housing options in Big Sky. AESI completed the topographic survey, site design, on-site water and wastewater design and permitting, and geotechnical evaluation for the project. Work also involved developing a grading plan to accommodate single slab elevations for each triplex to minimize construction costs for Habitat for Humanity and their volunteers. Since the units will be available for lease or rent, the Gallatin County Planning Department required the completion of a Building for Lease or Rent (BLR) Application to be reviewed and approved by the County Commission. AESI completed the application and, in coordination with both the School District and Habitat for Humanity, represented the project before the Commission. Funding for the project was available from the passing of a school district levy and Big Sky Resort Tax support.
